Specific developments

A1 proofreading not yet effective for this page. In the meantime, you can ask any questions on the forum. Gestan can embark on specific developments in several ways:

• via the use of extensions (a bit the equivalent of Windows function libraries, dll files), new programs which are executed by Gestan by exploiting existing data in the database, or stored in additional files
• by replacing certain screens with others, developed specifically, or certain states with others.
• by adding an additional tab to certain screens, to manage additional specific data.

Gestan has a number of “replaceable” elements: for example, you can replace the invoice editing program with a completely personalized program. Same thing for the Intervention status, or for the contact list.

Before 01/01/2018, it was possible for any developer to carry out specific developments for Gestan.

However, the legal constraints have become heavier, more complicated and tougher, and since 01/01/2018, the NF525 standard applies to “cash register software”, drastically restricting the possibility of development by third parties.

Also, since this date, specific developments have only been carried out by companies that have signed a partnership contract and a confidentiality commitment with ICS-Informatique.

The following prerequisites should be considered:

• The signing of a partnership contract with Gestan, including a confidentiality commitment;
• Knowledge of development with PCSoft tools, or the development of third-party applications in other languages, or the development of APIs for HFSQL
• In the case of development with PCSoft tools, the latest or penultimate version licenses (in general, we adopt the latest version of Windev six months after its official release)
• Good knowledge of programming under Windev.
• All specific source codes must be documented in this Gestan manual, and posted on the publisher's GDS.

The development team provides specific technical support for developer partners, but is not intended to provide training for the latter in the use of Windev or the Reports and Queries software. You will have to train yourself, or directly with PCSoft.

We provide developers with a partner space, specifying the partnership conditions (technical and commercial), development standards for development, and a set of resources:

• Gestan analysis: definition of database files and items.
• Gestan template: the style of the screens.
• Gestan icons: the set of icons used in Gestan.
• examples of extensions for Gestan
• specific state examples for Gestan (Invoice, and Intervention sheet)

It is possible to use the software Etats et Requêtes, but we do not provide support for it.
