Multilingualism

FIXME A1 proofreading not yet effective for this page. In the meantime, you can ask any questions on the forum.

Gestan lets you edit documents (quotes, invoices, credit notes) in 16 languages: French, Spanish, Portuguese, Irish, Italian, English, German, Czech and Slovak, Dutch, Romanian, Polish, Hungarian, Bulgarian, French Canadian (soon in Belgian?), and Russian. Many thanks to the translators!

What's more, translated labels can be modified by the user: not only does this allow you to correct the labels in one language, it also allows you to replace one language with another.

Access via: Tools → Administration → Translation of part labels

You can modify each label in each language, or even change its original use.

The Apply button saves your changes, while the Initialize button resets the labels to their original values.

There's a special feature for two labels:

  • Generated part: controls the wording inserted in the source part notes when you generate one part from another. The default wording in French is: “Pièce générée : %1 le %2 %3 par %4”. If, for example, you generate a delivery note ID7 from a customer invoice, this will insert a note: Pièce générée : BLV7 le 26/06/24 05:16 par EN in the invoice notes. The %1 label will be replaced by the part type and ID, %2 by the generation date, %3 by the generation time, and %4 by the generation user code.
  • Original part: controls the label inserted in the notes of the target part when you generate one part from another. The default wording is: “Original part(s): %1”. If, for example, you generate an invoice from a sales order 2004-003 dated 04/25/20, this will insert a note: Pièce(s) origine : CCT 2004-003 (26/06/24) in the invoice notes. The %1 label will be replaced by the part type, number and date.

You can put the %1 %2 %3 %4 labels anywhere in the labels.
